Hello friends….
I am back as promised to tell you how it has been @ RML so far. But wait, let me take you a little back in time. It’s the day when the CLAT result was supposed to be out. But as fate would have it, the day was spent anxiously in front of computer screens, Hitting the refresh button was of no help either. The CLAT office itself was not sure as to when the result will be published. Just when you were about to quit, there it was. Finally, the result was out. And so were emotions of many aspirants. Some were happy, while others were feeling low. And there were some who could not get through. Soon the institution wise list was out too, and after some changes it was all but final as to who goes where.
Behold, there’s still a month for the session to start. You try to boast to your friends about your college, even though you still haven’t been to the place. You mention about the placements and the packages. While some of them are all ears to you, most don’t care. Meanwhile your imaginations know no bound. You spend days and nights thinking about how life at college will be. You surf the net, check the pictures and whatever you can lay your hands upon to know about the campus. You try to get in touch with your seniors to have a niche about the place. The very thought of ragging bring jitters, but you are still happy and start packing your luggage. And finally the big day arrives
.
You arrive at the college gate, it look just like it was in the pictures. The orientation takes place, you try to complete the paperwork as soon as possible. But it’s taking time, every seconds feels like an hour. But you somehow manage through it. The VC gives an astounding speech. For a second you feel like the college is best in the world. But slowly reality dawns upon you.
Let’s cut the crap. Talking about the session 2010-2011, much action has taken place on the campus.
The first week was full of anxiety for the freshers. With no one to guide them, they tried to explore the campus and city on their own, a good way to socialise with their batch mates. There was this constant fear of ragging once the seniors arrive. They discussed how this place was better than other law schools and about it’s emergence as a tier 1 law school(though some are still doubtful). And finally all these discussions lost their sheen as the seniors started arriving. Scared out of their wits(though some tried to put up a brave face in front of others), the freshers tried to please the seniors in the best possible ways. Their were late night ragging sessions, where the fucchas were asked to sing, dance, do mujra, answer weird questions and perform cheap acts among others. Although it was fun, some fucchas got offended and complained to the authorities. The scene in the girls hostel was fun though. The idea of the madams to rag the young ladies backfired, and they ended up at the receiving end. As reports have it, one young lady even filed an FIR against the seniors. Though ragging has all but stopped, reports have it that the worst is yet to come for the boys on the day before fresher night.
And the event which has been generating much heat is the GRAND INTRA(Intra University Moot Selections). With around 130 teams registering, the heat could be felt much before the event began. And then, there was this MCC(Moot Court Committee) meeting where there were heated arguments between two power blocks of the university over issues related to GRAND INTRA. Not knowing what to do the fucchas were left in the dark and were used as scapegoats. Amid much furore the moot problem arrived. But instead of dousing the flames it acted as a fuel to the fire. While some liked the problem, some opposed it tooth and nail. Finally the VC came out of his chamber to address the problems. Broken apart by an anonymous mail, which complained about his administration policies, he issued directives to resolve the problem. Soon a new moot problem was out. The library which wears a deserted look otherwise became the hub of activity of university. Also was the news of reserving some moots for the freshers(sadly. this could not be confirmed). But the sad story was that out of the many teams registered from the first year, hardly five teams submitted their memorials. Reasons for backing out varying from lack of interest and guidance, to team incompatibility among others. The researcher test was held recently, and the result can be out any moment. More on GRAND INTRA in the next post
Good Luck to all participating teams.
May the best team win.
